Since embarking on our first holiday let in the Somerset countryside, we have had the pleasure of welcoming thousands of people through our doors and we have learnt a lot about hosting guests and how to provide the best possible experience for them. Grange Cottage (an annex to our own house, Bowlish Grange) is in a beautiful setting with access to a large child friendly garden as well as private outside relaxing and dining areas.
The building is over 300 years old and is positioned in what was once a very affluent area of wool and silk mill owners’ houses. We are lucky to be positioned at the foot of the Mendip Hills with incredible walks and cycle trails on our doorstep. The tiny hamlet of Bowlish is in a very central position for people to visits attractions throughout Somerset, with Wookey Hole Caves and Longleat Safari Park being popular family days out. Just down the lane there is a local pub with a great range of ales and good pub food and the town of Shepton Mallet is just a short walk away through the meadows; extremely convenient for a delicious meal at Aurora Kusina (an award winning Filipino street food and restaurant) or a night out at The Art Bank. Grange cottage has also proved popular for large family get togethers and groups attending weddings in the area since it can sleep up to ten guests.
Recently we purchased two more homes in the centre of the historic City of Wells, which is just a fifteen-minute drive away from Bowlish. Wells is an incredible place that we have known and loved for many years; it maybe the smallest city in England but it is absolutely packed with beautiful historic buildings with the highlights being Wells Cathedral, The Bishop's Palace and a unique medieval street known as Vicars’ Close. There is also a huge range of great places to eat (highlights include Root Wells and Goodfellows@7B) and a great assortment of independent shops and a historic twice weekly market.
Now that our offering of holiday lets has expanded we have decided it is a perfect time to build this website to showcase the properties and to share with you some of the things that we love most about Somerset, whether it's towns, walks, beaches, vineyards, restaurants or bars, hopefully there might be something that takes your fancy and you might even be inspired to visit for yourself.
If you do, we look forward to welcoming you!
